Abdoulaye Epizo Bangoura
is one of West Africa’s leading Percussionists, Choreographers & Dance Masters.
A former member of the famous FATALA & KOTEBA Ensembles of the Ivory Coast, West Africa. Epizo lived in both France & the USA before moving to Australia & has now added Japan to his list of residences. Performing for over 20 years, has also toured the world extensively playing alongside such great artists as SALIF Keita, MORY Kante, DOUDOU N’diaye Rose, Mark Helias, Abdullah Ibrahim, Don Pullen, Ed Blackwell & Papa Ladje Camara.
EPIZO is a MULTI-AWARD WINNING musician & a true multi-instrumentalist. Epizo plays not only the traditional percussion of his native Guinea, but ALL percussion, including the western drum kit, balafon, kora, piano, bass, guitar, violin & saxophone. Combining both traditional & contemporary elements of music Epizo has released 2 albums: N’na & Inchallah.
Epizo is an exceptional tutor and is known for his exuberant choreographies, distinctive style & intricate movements. Often combing traditional with contemporary, he has worked with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, as well as conducting Drum & Dance intensives across the globe.

The EPIZO Camp Intensives are renowned across the EAST & WEST coasts of Australia.
